  • TSB45 - Developmental Tactical Baton (Todd 45)

I chanced on THIS article whilst perusing information relating to baton history over at Wikipedia, and thought it may be dicussion worthy or at least of interest to some of our members...

Manufacturer blurb - "What is the Todd 45? It is a two handled expandable rotating rear handle device that is lightweight, robust, easily carried and made ready and while it improves safety and has been made to reduce law suits, it does not sacrifice effectiveness or eliminate options..."

Below is a picture of the new style baton in both closed & open configurations, more info @ Todd Group

I don't get how it would reduce lawsuits.

Perhaps in the technique that it's applied with? more of a defensive baton than offensive?

Manufacturer - " The TSB 45 is intended for defensive purposes but can easily be used as a deterrent or restraint device. In addition it can be used to quickly and easily disarm someone with a striking weapon in their hand..."

Me either, any thing that is used as an impact weapon, could bring a lawsuit. So, i'm a little lost...

For those that didn't follow the links supplied, it would appear the manufacturer is promoting this product as a primarily blocking, deflection & restraining device (hence it's dual handles)... though it could potentially be used as an impact weapon (but then so could a keyboard )

Thus being a reactive not proactive device it's use would lead to less grounds for potential litigation, note that whilst it could be utilized as a club/striking device having both hands on the TSB45 wouldn't allow for much potential striking force (unlike a baton/club wielded single handedly)
