  • Total Body Armor

I am in the market for some new body armor. I was looking into Safariland's Stab/Ballistic threat level vest as it is dual platform vest rated for both bullets AND knives, daggers and etc.

Well that all came to a screaching halt when I happened across this little gem. I am gonna start saving my money for this!!!

Looks interesting. I remember that guy and his bear suit. Knocked the crap out of him but he kept it going. For $2000 you would think that military, swat, and bomb squads could use something like that. I'm not sure about the major joints being unprotected. A knife in the right joint would bring anybody down, painfully at that. Great concept though. It could use an led light bar on the forehead like Kitt the car on knightrider.

Go to pinnacle armor.com/dragon skin, and seewhat you think. Impressive is the number of multiple hits in the same area without penetration.

Your right that is VERY impressive! I would just have a 'slight' problem with my thoracic cavatity being transformed in Jell-O from the blunt force trauma! Yikes!

Was it just me, or in the video with .308 did I see some rounds ricoche off the steel(?) plate? That would be far better then the armor alone.

I liked the heat transfere abilities... Thats a huge issue with me-I HATE THE HEAT. Yes, I know how miserable other states get, especially in the SE.

Since we're talking BPV's here, what does everyone think of ceramic plates vs steel plates?

This is a good article. Also a testimonial written by a PSD Security guy in Iraq that lived because of Dragon Skin.

Is this the same Army that issued the defective Second Chance vest? Unbelievable I wear the upgraded Second Chance with the K-30 inserts and am happy so far. Takes a while to get used to the smell from the fiber gasses.

THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .357 MAGNUM ROUND IS 1400 FEET PER SECOND?

Chucky, the Army has been evaluating Dragon Skin and writing staff studies and the boots on the ground get very little. Natick was in charge of protective armor but it was taken away from them in a political tug-of-war. Who loses, the grunt.
