  • Who here knows Texas security law well??

I attend a small university in Texas and I know for a fact that the security force used is not licensed by anybody. I could not find anything in the law that pertains particularly to security of a private institution. Does Texas allow officers to operate in-house without a license or is this against the law? I am curious as I was asked to join their force and am hesitant until I can get clarification. Anyone who can direct me to that part of the law, or knows for sure, would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks

Do they drive vehicles? If so, they have to have their license number on the vehicle.

I don't really think any university would open themselves up to serious legal action like this.

I dont know the Texas law, but here, proprietary security (employed by the protected party, not a 3rd party company) does not require any type of licensing. If this is the same case in TX, they wouldnt have a license number to put on the vehicles.

I stand as an ordinary citizen. I have no right to; detain, interrogate or otherwise interfere with your personal property-... basically all that means is I'm a cop."-Officer Ernie

The second I read the question I was going to recommend that the OP get in touch with BC! He's our resident expert on such matters.
