  • LODD Policies

Since we have several managers, owners, or supervisors on the forums, and its come up again...

What are your policies (at your company) towards LODDs?

    and

Someone was just killed on duty with your company. Walk us through the response by the firm.

This should bring some very interesting responses. As long as i've been in the industry, I dont think i've ever seen such a policy.

There are numerous aspects to such events, which are often addressed in separate policies covering immediate response to injury events, notifications, investigations, HR procedures to be followed, media relations, etc.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but here's a model policy from a university police department for LODDs with respect to the "after-action" procedures to be followed. It would be modified for a security operation, of course, but there's a lot to like about this one.
