Insurance providers?

I checked with a local insurance co a few months ago about getting insurance just on myself so that I could get some free lance work. They got back to me and told me to forget it. They said it would cost more than I would make on the side.
Although they did mention that if I lived in NY then my chances are much better. Then they asked where the co I work for is located and sure enough they run 5 of their armed states operations out of the NY office.
I wonder where Paliden ( Have gun will travel) got his insurance?

Plus, you have to be very careful of the exclusions. Make sure that you have Errors and Omissions coverage as well as Professional Liability and Lost Key Coverage, etc.

Also, some (especially Izzo and Constanza) charge you every time you have a client named as an additional insured. Most carriers offer a flat price for unlimited requests.

Now let us look at a potential core problem, is the company, any company authorized to do business in the state, province or territory in which you or your company are in.
Remember the saga about paying for health insurance that did not exist. The person got hit twice.
Always check with the Commissioner of Insurance, Secretary of Commerce or the agency that provides that service in your jurisdiction.

As I understand it, yes there are few and far between, here's what I have found:

These folks deal ONLY with security companies. On Site. Patrol, whatever... The catch is you have to have had at least one year previously being insured.

and the other one is

These folks also, do private security and I don't believe they have a one year requirement like Izzo.

What companies have you dealt with that provide insurance for security officer/patrol services companies? Are there any specifically focused on that niche? I had this question come up elsewhere, and I didn't find much on the Web.
