Since I am not involved with retail security I have not paid close attention to it but I do remember reading that stores in my area a suing civilly people caught shoplifting.

Yeah. I think accusing the UK of decriminalizing shoplifting is pushing it too far. They absolutely are not.

It's happening in Australia and in my state with the Premier's (Governor) decision to issue fines even if it is the 15th offence by a S/L. It was under $325.00 in value - fine and record plus over $325.00 was either a Court Attendance Notice which could lead to other things. To speed up the process, it is all about churn and burn !! It means S/L's will count what they take in 1 hit.

Yeah. I think accusing the UK of decriminalizing shoplifting is pushing it too far. They absolutely are not.

If anything, this story seems more like there is an attempt to decriminalize drugs.
