Not to bash on the LP industry as I am in it, but who do you think has less training, LP or security? heh...

Don't think there is any good answer as I am security and sometimes when needed LP. Our field is brushed with a pretty broad brush. Many layers of both for a definitive answer. What I do most the time as security is very different than most of the security people on this forum as others are also doing special assignment work at Nuke plants and docks etc. Some LP guys also vary in what exactly they are assigned to do.

THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A 911 CALL IS FOUR MINUTES
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .357 MAGNUM ROUND IS 1400 FEET PER SECOND?

LP probably has better training than your garden variety O & R security officer. The LPO is likely to detain, arrest, and use force if necessary. Since his employer doesn't want to get his six sued off, he will want a trained officer on staff.

Like anything, there are always exceptions. Most armed and many mall SO’s have considerable training as well.
Security: Freedom from fear; danger; safe; a feeling of well-being. (Webster's)
