  • Hi from WA

Hi joined the board in October but just recently started coming into the forum areas. Currently I work for Boeing as a security officer. Also have prior security at a company in seattle doing alarm responses and former law enforcement. It will be nice to talk on a board where hopefully no one ridicules the profession or does the "wannabe" garbage. Looking forward to hearing from the people out there.

      Hiya Mike!

If you believe the website, I guess we're in the same union (SPFPA). I'm over in DHS. How's Boeing? Do you start on a gate, or what? All I know about y'all is based solely on rumors.

Yeah were in the same union, gotta love the union . Boeing is good don't really get assigend one place or another, spend half my time on a gate the other time driving around. I work at the Everett plant - more patrol time.

                Your full name.

I've had two folks ID me by my name, which I always used Ofc./MPO/Cpl. N. A. Corbier on forms. Only a select few knew my first name.

I figured by my full name, but most people don't associate my name with former job so it always suprises me when people recognize me. By the way are you the same N.A.Corbier on O.com?

That was before I realized that VBulletin supported spaces in my name. It is.

Thank you for the welcome I appreciate it. Currently Boeing is in house Proprietary (sp?) security. They tell me that the laws are different and that Proprietary has more authority than contract but who knows. I know that a few of our smaller sites in other states use contract security but I don't think they get the same results as with us. I know we get some good training and equipment and have a lot of responsibilites because of who we are. For example, local police use us to assist them with accidents and what not so we get to run code on city streets which is cool. The police also tend to look at us as more equals than regular security officers. I personally think all security officers should be treated as equals unless they show themselves to be imcompetent but thats my opinion.
