    Much appreciated.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As for the State Guard conversation, they vary from state to state. Here in Washington, we are largely used to support the Emergency Management Division by serving as LNOs (liaison officers) in Emergency Operations Centers or the Joint Operations Center. EMD falls under the Adjutant General here as does the State and National Guard.

We are considered, by law, in Washington equal to and with the status of the National Guard when on state active duty (SAD). This is the only time we are typically in a paid status. We drill monthly on a voluntary basis and are co-located with our WAARNG counterparts in armories at at state headquarters. --K.
