  • Here be me.

Hello all, My name is Brian, I have been in Security for about 2-3 years now. I currently work for the Wackenhut Corp. and in the past I worked for "Security Masters" based in Tacoma WA. and The Western Washington Merchant Patrol based in Centralia WA (Dont work for them.)

I have had my share of really good, and really bad experiences in my time in security, but I feel its going to be a good stepping stone for me to become a police officer (I am 20y/o).

    Well thats me.

Was that the one based out of that little basement office in the pseudo-office building in Lakewood (right near or on Steilacoom Blvd)?

... possibly... I heard they used to be in an office thing.. but he moved the office to the upstairs of his house (2nd Security Company I worked for based out of a residence... Never Again!). I cant remember where he is located... I only remember how to get there, but it is based near where Tacoma meets Lakewood.

I kinda liked the company when I was applying, the fact they said they try to take care of all their officers as if they were family, but they only paid 8 bucks an hour, disregarded my site requests (like when I told them Im not driving 50 miles to a post for 8 an hour )... never seemed to give me the 40 hrs a week (sometimes I only worked 1 or 2 4-12 hour shifts a week, some weeks, no work at all.), etc... Then I left for Wackenhut when they offered me a deployment to Louisiana for 1200 a week (ended up being about 1600... 1800 if you include my per diem) I heard from a friend who is still with them that they are now bad-mouthing me for "leaving in their time of need" ... yeah... I guess I dont have needs huh?

They arent the worst company Ive worked for though. That award will have to go to the Western Washington Merchant Patrol.

Welcome "Mr. Wackenhut." On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate working for them? PM if you prefer.

A 9.5 I guess. They have given me more than any other company, endless training opportunities, a decent wage, good choices on jobsites, deployment opportunities (I just got home from New Orleans in November) with good pay... was pulling about 1600 a week down there, plus 224 a week cash. They take great care of me. I was titled "officer of the month" in Dec 05... will definately be with this company for a good long while.

Around here, we prefer the title: "Officer of the Moment" That's about how long they remember your achievement.
