    Hi There
I'm as the title says, from sunny South Africa, I was looking for a better way to compile a shift report and stumbled accross this forum. It might just be something I've been lloking for, for a long time.
Im 28 years old, been working at my current company for 10 years, Im a Senior Security officer and even though our country has a huge crime rate where I work we hardly deal with more than petty theft.

    Batsec:
Look into the Canadian firm PPM2000. It would be worth your while.
    Enjoy the day,

Hello and welcome, I agree with Bill. The PPM2000 is the system that we currently use.

Welcome, Its always interesting to hear from security people outside of the United States. I'm curious how security is organised in different countries and how it's viewed by the populace. What are the major companies, etc. I look forward to reading your posts.

Well I dont know if it came up in the media there by you guys, but there were a strike from the security industry in our country and it was pretty violent: about 40 officers lost their lives because they didnt take part in the strike.
Security in our country is almost like police and government, not to bright.
But you doe get your better companies that actually know what security is about. The problem is lots of companies goes for the cheaper security companies and then you have unqualified unschooled guards.
But its not just negative there are aot of good people in the industry.
And it is a good industry in a country like south africa

As I mentioned in an earlier post where I work we have no violent crime at all.
We mostly deal with employees trying to company property home at the end of shift but even that is not so high.
We are alot involved in EHS and OHS and then ofcourse im a level 3 firstaider and first aid trainer. Our purpose is more a visual deterrent and off course access egress controll which is very strict.
We last had fence intruders in 2004. It seems being shot at by suposedly unarmed security officers has been to much for the fence climbers and they dont wanna play allong anymore(or untill they get bigger guns)
I love my job allot even though it does get boring at times, it is mostly very fast paced and offcourse everchanging.

Unfortunately this seems to be a world-wide problem in our "profession". We have it here in Canada too.
