With all my IT trade journals noting a high percentage of security vendors at Interop this year, I'm wondering about how system integrators and dealers are coming to terms with the idea of the Chief Information Officer being responsible for both technical and physical security of the corporation.
In this week's issue of eWeek, a ZiffDavis publication, it is noted in Cameron Sturdevant's column "Ziff Davis Labs News and Analysis" that Interop's "Security Zone" was the largest specialized area. IT Security vendors were jamming the word SSL into everything they could this year, such as VPN products and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
However, access control was also big on the minds of IT managers.
I'm wondering how many integrators are ready to deliver both access control through physical (entry access, alarm, CCTV, asset control) and technical (authentication, user rights, data protection).
