  • AI presents threat to security

    https://gizmodo.com/new-report-on-ai...ure-1823191087

We're already seeing it with drones now being used by both sides. I think the main use will be in stalking and cybercrime, but I can see scenarios where the bad guys cause a power failure or a system problem to cause a diversion and tie up emergency services while they commit their crime.

One of the biggest concerns regarding technology is NOT the use of technology as threats, but security planning which solely relies on electronic security measures to function properly. As we all know, security should be in layers and redundancies should always be in place.

As Security planners, we should always have another layer of measures to protect assets when the power fails. If a security plan relies on electricity to function, then it's not good security. As planners, we have to identify and plan for these risks; and if we can't treat the risk properly, we then ensure our recovery planning is implemented.

You can have physical security (PHYSEC) without IT security (ITSEC), but you can't have IT security without physical security.
