SUMMARY

This position at the corporate headquarters will manage the day-to-day operations of the security organization and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Manages and provide leadership to the security staff and oversees department functions. Provides leadership in attracting and developing staff, including guidance and performance management

-Develops and manages security and emergency management operations, policies, procedures, and programs

-Maintains awareness of new/changing laws/regulations and continually reviews and monitors the status of all security policies, procedures, and programs to ensure they are in compliance with appropriate regulations and meeting organizations needs

-Develops and presents necessary documents and reports for management, and manages assigned budget

-Develops and delivers security outreach presentations and initiatives

-Maintains a proactive awareness of security matters as well as changes in security regulations and makes recommendations concerning the design and implementation of preventative security standards, procedures, and programs to enhance security for the organization and personnel while ensuring compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations

-Briefs executive management on security matters; promotes and communicates, as necessary, security policies/programs/matters for assigned area with management and staff; and ensures technical excellence

- Ensures all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Ensures work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES

-Typically requires education/formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, law enforcement, security, emergency management, or a related field, along with twelve or more years progressive security and/or emergency management administration experience in a large diverse government contract organization or government agency with at least seven or more years of security or emergency management experience. Equivalent security administration experience may be substituted in lieu of education

-Must possess: experience in plant protection and physical security environments, extensive expertise in the application of relevant security concepts, theories and practices with a comprehensive knowledge of federal and local security regulations and current security operating procedures; extensive experience managing relationships with external security, law enforcement and emergency management agencies, including NRC, DOD and DOE; ability to articulate and write in a clear and concise fashion, effectively address diverse audiences including executive management, and facilitate difficult discussions; strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills with the ability to build and sustain a successful team; ability to interpret and explain very complex technical or operational matters; ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information; proficiency in the use of office software; and, ability to work extended hours as necessary and travel as required

-Must have or be able to obtain and hold the appropriate security clearance(s)

CPP Certification preferred
