    THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO is seeking a qualified individual who will serve as the executive responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and management of the organization?s security and safety strategies and programs for both its Museum and for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The position reports to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all staff, faculty, students, volunteers and visitors, as well as the safe and secure condition of all collections and facilities. Additional responsibilities include: researching and deploying state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the organization?s assets; preparation and accountability for all departmental budgets; negotiating and approving all contracts for Protection Services provided by external sources; and overseeing the planning, development and implementation of fire, safety, and health programs for the corporation including compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations. The Executive Director will also serve as AIC?s contact with city, state and federal police and security representatives in coordinating services for VIP special event(s).

    A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE a Bachelor?s degree in Criminal Justice, Private Security & Loss Prevention Management, or a related field, with a Master?s preferred, and have at least 8 - 10 years of progressively responsible security management experience, including a minimum of 5 years as the individual in charge of security operations. Must have leadership skills to provide direction to management and professional staff within the organization and also have in depth experience managing large-scale security operations. Ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization, including briefing executive management and various committees on status of security issues is key. Certified Protection Professional a plus.
