    Has anybody here ever done or considered something like this? I never seriously have, but I may look into it a bit further. I am not much of a sports guy, but perhaps that would be an advantage in this case! Who knows?

    Summary/Objective: The Director of Team Security will be responsible for implementing security plans and maintaining the safety of the Minnesota Timberwolves Players, Coaches and staff in concert with the Vice President of Security. This position will be responsible for securing the training, practice and game facilities during all official events ensuring a safe operating environment for players, coaching and training staff both in Minneapolis and on the road. This position will report to the Vice President of Security – Minnesota Timberwolves.

    Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions:
    1. Provide security support to Team members, Coaching Staff & Training Staff both at home and on the road.
    2. Implement security measures in the team training center, arena and other environments.
    3. Liaise with Federal, State and Local law enforcement contacts to provide security support to the team and organization.
    4. Conduct employee and player safety training and briefings.
    5. Plan, design and implement security measures on the road in advance of the arrival of the team.
    6. Provide security for player and team appearances.
    7. Provide additional security services and fulfill other duties as assigned within the organization at the direction of the Vice President of Security.
    8. Conduct security assessments of venues and facilities to be utilized by organization personnel.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other:
    1. Demonstrate experience in conducting investigations and implementation of security protocols.
    2. Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency on various computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    4. Strong oral and written communication skills with emphasis on preparing reports, security assessments and analysis.
    5. Demonstrated track record of team work, willingness to excel in asymmetrical work environments, and desire to help others accomplish common goals to achieve team success.
    6. Willingness and ability to respond “off-hours” to work related incidents.
    7. Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the year in support of the security needs of the organization during the season and off season.

    Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

    Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of law enforcement or related experience focusing on special events, personal security, emergency contingency planning preferred.

    Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc. Previous experience in professional sports team environment preferred.

    Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibility

    Work Environment
    This job operates in a work environment that involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve heavy lifting and carrying. Working hours may depend on team’s schedule. This job may also operate in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps and moderate noise levels.

    Physical Demands
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires moderate levels of physical activity including standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, etc. Staff may occasionally ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff may occasionally move boxes or other items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Position may require infrequent travel.
