Practice your James Bond accent and demeanor. British spy, security, commando, etc is automatically considered awesome in the USA.

Go for "executive/VIP protection"/butler/personal assistant. Lots of nuevo rich Silicon Valley types would eat that up.

PS- When you visit the USA you will have a chance to shoot real guns, not movie props, even in CA. Don't miss it, since you might actually be expected to be able to work a gun as part of high end security in USA, even in CA. Yes, IIRC a non-citzen recent arrival can get a exposed firearm permit guard permit easy in USA (you will be shocked at how easy).

But to answer your question about "sponsor"? 19 out of 20 firms in security in USA wont know what that means regarding employment. They will think you are Raising Funds For Charity or something. Add to that the fact that any high end company will want you to have a "guard card" in hand prior to interview makes it tricky.

Maybe start out in a casino in some non-security job, like Door Man or Bell Boy, levering your British accent (considered high class in USA).

Depending on what your official duties ( do not need to know ) you would be best inclined to be looking at who you have in your network of contacts to put in a good word with someone who might be in a position of hiring. While you sound over qualified for most contract security, the lack of American citizenship would exclude you from most higher paying security jobs due to not being able to obtain a clearance. You might want to look at a PMC as they are always looking for police personnel to be trainers in the sandbox or to do analyst work. The goal is to build relationships to someone who might be willing to either sponsor you for citizenship or might know of a company that is willing to do so. The biggest thing is getting over the H1B visa requirements where you have to prove a specialized skill set for the company to sponsor you in the first place. Blackwater XE or what ever they are calling themselves now would be a good place to check out just to build your network of contacts up. You might also want to get on police boards or police info watch as they might have more information on corporate security opening or possibly EP work.

While I have really no business asking this question but with the rapid influx of Muslims and Pakistanis taking over your cities why you would not stay and fight them in defense of your country. I love America , I think she is great but not with out her flaws. Even so I will fight for my homeland to make it better. To just post on a board that your leaving your country and home does make one wonder what the underlying causes are for this.

It might be easiest to start on your own side of the pond. Check with the larger international security companies like G4S and express your interest in moving to the States. These large security companies will have clients that have operations in both the US and England, and might be very interested, perhaps some sort of liaison position..
