Thanks ElectroMech. And welcome aboard. I do use some Assa Abloy products.

Have they ironed out the issue with the cams on the HES 9600? We had a lot of problems in the beginning. We had 5 fail on a site with 14, one at a time. But after I called HES, the product manager advanced us 14 to replace them all. Although it was frustrating, they did take care of us.

And if you have the opportunity to get the word out about this site, that would be great. There's not enough of us tech (installers, integrators, etc) people here.

Since Ilco Unican (now Kaba Ilco) is a Montreal based company & the fact that the former owner is a friend of the owner of my hotels we use their electronic hotel locks. We are about to upgrade to the proximity type lock from the magnetic card type.

    Default Abloy not so great

This is my experience with Abloy door automatics DA 460:
Automatic door opener DA460 is poorely designed and manufactured
with low quality parts, it can lead even to customers suing
subcontractors. DA460 has cheap plastic potentiometer
as door position sensor which works for few hundred closings
and then doors won't close or it breaks the rubber dumper on which
the motor is mounted, because mechanics is very rigid.
It drives customer crazy every 2-3 months doors breaking down
and you repairing DA460 replacing potentiometer and dumper.
It also has cheap mains AC switch that in 3 out of 10 DA460's
stops conducting after first year of service.
    DA460 is a nightmare.

As for Assa Abloy - it's parent of another company: Eff Eff.
Eff Eff makes electromagnets, fire escape systems etc. Their
Emergency Escape system is way oblsolete, software is very user unfriendly
(running on Windows 95), absolutely not interfaceable with any other
electromechanical devices. The design has not been improved since 1995.
It works only with magnets and Eff Eff endorses only use of their
most expensive magnets which are 2-3 times the price of standard ones.
Software and half of the documentation uses only German language.
