I need a new system

Hello all I am looking for some suggestions on a new reliable and easy to use system, that is HID card compatible. Currently we are using Intelli-M, which is horrible, I have never seen a system with so many factory problems.

There is a slew of systems which are HID compatible. Anything that accepts Wiegand, which is most.
What are you doing with the system?
How many different sites are being used?
How many card holders / cards in the system?
How many access groups do you use or need?
How many timezones are used / needed
How many access doors do you have and how many do you anticipate expanding to?
Are you doing reader in/ reader out, and/or antipassback?
Is badging integrated with the access system?
Are you integrating with CCTV or security systems?

Do you use an integrator or security system company, or do you install and configure in house?

Sorry to be so vague in the first post. We currently only have 25 access points that are controlled by the system, and at most a total of 700 card holders with no more than 50 groups. No passback or anti passback is done. We just need a basic system that the guard can use to remotely lock and unlock doors, create access cards, and schedule the locking and unlocking of doors. Cost is an issue as we are a non-profit org. Instillation depending how tough can be done in house. I hope this is enough info.

Suggestions:

1. 25 points of door is not big size for a door access control system, to save your cost, you can choose RS485 system,

2. For HID cards, you may buy HID compatible reader, HID card is expensive, you may buy common 125khz EM compatible card, which is also good quality and cheaper.

3. Door locks, magnetic lock, electric bolt, electric strike options, normally bolt for glass door, magnetic & strike for wooden door,

4. Software, must be friendly use, u may check the demo software from the supplier before purchasing,

5. Consider the basic function of the system you need, to determine when and who could open which door, check the hardware you need and how to configure in software,

6. The reliability and lost cost maintennance are important elements you need to notice, the supplier company doesn't need to be big, but need to be professional and focused on this field, from the communication and files they offered to you, you can study and find if they can help you to make a right decision.

That is one of my favorites as well, especially for cutting over from existing systems with several hundred cards. You can import the existing card database with utility DSX provides and they support a very wide range of card formats which can save a lot of cash for the customer.
