Most WalMarts have top notch ptz's and digital security systems.They have a strict policy of hands off ,but usually your managers "overlooked" alot just to save the store merchandise. The associates and moreso the managers all get quarterly bonuses that are reflected and calculated by store shrink and losses. Trust me when I say the Store manager and assistant store managers will overlook alot to get that big bonus at the end of the year. Not only is WalMart money driven from the CEO's but it also runs in the managemnet inside the stores.

When I was at Walmart from around 2003, our managers were extremely "asset" driven. We didn't have an LP team, our store was "too small" to rate one. Which meant it was the assistant manager and whoever they could find.
I don't know if the hands-off policy is new, but back then, it didn't exist. The assistant managers had no problem with my philosophy: If you actively resist, you go straight to the ground.Some Kind of Commando Leader

You have to walk a fine line in NC on physically reatsrainting because if they hire a lawyer ,you are going to have a bad time because you could be accused of arresting them ie holding against their will. My friend that works LP at Wal-Mart told me yesterday that they don't have an official hands off policy ,I was incorrect , but anytime you grab someone you are looking at a lawsuit. To me a shoplifter is a thief and should be stopped by any means.

How do you apply with them? I can't find anything on the website about lp. Any idea of what the pay and benefits are like? Thanks for all the reply so far.

Go to walmart.com scroll to the bottom of the page. Middle section (about walmart stores) click carrers at walmart. Next page click apply for a carrer. next page look for "your local area" center page ,click walmart. Now you are in the hiring center ,click apply now and i agree through the next couple of pages. Click create login ,keep this handy for later use. Once you are logged on you will answer some ethnical questions, you will get to the "areas of interest" screen click walmart. next screen will be the "facility locator screen ,self explanitory. On the next screen you will click the stores of your choosing. Now the next screen is where you want to be ,it is the "Choose the type of position that you are interested in" screen. The fourth option down is "
"Office and Loss Prevention
This group includes hourly support positions, such as Personnel, Training, Accounting and Loss Prevention"
Thats your screen ,the rest is up to you my friend.
P.S. They have an assesment that you take after completing your application ,BE SURE to take that and finish it. Your application will not post to the selected stores until you complete and pass the aassesment. You can apply for LP online ,you can apply for any position. Managers and hourly associates do not get the same benefits either ,other than insurance. Associates get a quarterly bonus ,usually around 400 dollars depending on the shrink ,store losses etc. Managers get their bonus at the end of the year and can total 10,000$ or more.
