hopefully reduce rampant burglary.
Resident hints at how it is "disappointing" the 'city'(OPD) isn't able to protect them.
Yep, and it is gonna get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better, and this is why I'm getting back into security.
I got nothin but $$$ signs in my eyes.

Prepare to see more of this...
In OPD's defense, they've had MASSIVE personnel cuts. Despite the FBI's hocus pocus crime stats, property crimes are up everywhere. If I had a security co. that had mobile patrols, i would market a daytime patrol to residential communities.
On the local radio today the afternoon crew was chiding the Everett, WA PD for a recent sting operation against "bikini baristas." (Apparently you could get a show with your latte at the coffee stand if you left a big enough tip.) Their point was whether this was really a "high priority" operation that required the manpower that was devoted to it.
I am familiar with this part of Puget Sound. Daytime burglaries are up at least 39% in the last few years. The county that Everett resides in has a known meth problem, even though the local chamber of commerce downplays it.
Pay me the cop wages and I'll patrol the whole dang city, and I promise I won't stop at an inappropriate coffee stand.

On one hand, no organization on earth could "police" Oakland given the nature of residents and Constitutional restrictions on police.
On the other, no "management team" on earth could be expected to produce anything but chronic failure given the Civil Service and Union protections the OPD and other depts have.
Imagine trying to run any business with police union type job protections against a competitor who get to hire and fire at will.
News reporter said very directly the security wouldn't 'intervene' if they saw a break in going on, I wonder how long that will last.
Prob I see with private security "intervening" during a SUSPECTED break in is they wont be 100% sure it is a break in, and don't have the same authority to "arrest first, ask questions later" especially if they don't know whether the person is the property owner. http://rutherfordtimesonline.com/wp-...rested-504.jpg
Since security is being hired by a group of 60 homeowners, I see a deep pocket "in the house".
