I don't know about the rest of the security licensing world but the ASRB is about as slow as molasass in wintertime. The state approved licensing of security officers in 2009. The board starting accepting license applications in late 2010. I submitted my application in March 2011. I would periodically call or email to check on the status of my application. The best I ever got was, "Don't worry. The licenses are coming." About a week ago I finally had enough. I emailed the board administrators, the board members and my state legilators. I must admit I was pretty upset by then. I didn't call anyone a dirty so-and-so but I think the board executive director got my drift. I had a reply email within 20 minutes (pretty cool especially since it was after 8pm) saying he would "look into the situation" and a follow-up email the next morning telling me my license was on the way.

My license arrived Saturday. Woo-hoo!!!!

It expires July 2013. <YIKES!!> I sure hope the renewal process doesn't take 2 years. I might really lose my temper then.
