Hi to all.
I am retired here in Illinois and am considering getting my unarmed training and PERC card. Then I would like to get a job at one of our airports working for the company that holds the contract. One of their officers told me that the job he does involves all inside work and a lot of walking which would be just what I am looking for.
I am open to other possibilities but am not interested in sitting around. I do not want to spend the time and money getting licensed if a job like this is hard to get. Any thoughts as to how difficult it is to break into the field would be appreciated.

It's a tough call without knowing the airports and companies. Some security at airports are very low key ground pounders, while others are high end "high-speed, low drag" style. I think a really good start would be to contact the security company itself and talk to them. Tell them what you want and ask for an honest assessment on what they think would be the best choice and route for you.
"Alright guys listen up, ya'll have probably heard this before, Jackson vs. Securiplex corporation; I am a private security officer, I have no State or governmental authority. I stand as an ordinary citizen. I have no right to; detain, interrogate or otherwise interfere with your personal property-... basically all that means is I'm a cop."-Officer Ernie

I will contact the company and see what they say. However, whenever you talk to someone at a company about a job you might be pursuing they will tend to encourage you regardless of the reality of the situation. I'm not really interested in a TSA job.
Just wanted to get some thoughts and I thank both of you for your input.
