Every once in awhile I will search different security companies on ebay. Found this unique listing of an old Pinkerton ad, back when it was the Pinkerton company. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-Pinkert...item35c23500cd
Fun facts on Pinkerton:
-Pinkerton is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Securitas.
-Pinkerton is the government service branch of Securitas.
-Pinkerton provided intelligence service for the United States during the American Civil War. I find it fascinating that intelligence and patrol services were first offered to the public way before dedicated government agencies were established.

There was a time 40 years ago
when working as Pinkerton Security
Guard meant pride
I wore a uniform much like this
I worked the overnights at Power
Generating plant near Boston
1972. A few months after
I completed my Navy time
You followed the Security Officer Handbook
to the letter. No deviation
You did patrols, and you had
darn well had better covered the
whole plant
Employees at plants and manufacturing
had respect for you
Even a few of the Office Girls in
the plant thought you were kinda
cute in your Pinkerton uniformhttp://www.laurel-and-hardy.com/ Greatest Comedy team ever!

I started with Pinkerton in 1992. When I walked in to apply, the area manager gave me an application that knocks my socks off. I was a 19 year old punk kid who had only worked a couple of manual labor jobs and thought about just leaving because I thought there was no way such a prestigious outfit would ever hire the likes of me.
Boy, was I wrong. I left the office with a job, uniforms, and having watched a few poorly produced videos. I was put at two different posts. Two weekday 11-7's at a mid sized insurance company and weekends 3-11 at a factory. The insurance company post paid $5 an hour. The factory paid a whopping $5.20. This was a slight cut in pay from my old job, but instead of working my tail off outside, I was sitting inside and doing, what to me, seemed like next to nothing.
The training wasn't much at all and I was clueless. There were a lot of misfits working there. A real warm body outfit. I remember reading all the hype about Pinkerton and then looking around at the local branch and thinking it must have all been smoke and mirrors.

Acutally Securitas AB, the mothership if you will, owns two Pinkerton Subsidaries. Pinkerton Risk Management (formerly Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations or Pinkerton C & I), and Pinkerton Goverment Solutions.

I'm a former Pinkerton too. I got hired for a summer job when I was a Police Technology student. Pinkerton was the biggest Security Agency in Montreal. They had the contract at the construction site of the olympic stadium. A lot of their regular agents worked there. They had lots of openings at their other sites. My first site was a sugar refinery. A very dirty place. They changed our "cool" police like uniforms to overalls.
I enforce rules and regulations, not laws.
