Default What to wear in the colder months

I just started my LP job about six months ago so this coming winter will be my first. It's already started to get pretty cold out and I'm finding it awkward to find the right clothing to wear to work (plain clothed). It's pretty warm in the stores I work at, so it is going to be somewhat impossible come the extreme cold and snow to be wearing a full on winter jacket.

One of my stores is located inside a mall so I have already started carrying around a large retail bag with my jacket in it so as to not look out of place. However, every other store I work is stand-alone and that's where I'm having trouble. If I didn't mind sweating my manhood off everyday I would be fine, but 8 hours of it is a little too much.

My question is, what do you guys wear once the weather gets colder and you have to stay warm outside but also fit in inside. A customer gets to keep their jackets on because they aren't in the store for 8 hours wearing a winter jacket in 68 degrees.

The only thing I can think of is either carrying the jacket around with me, or wearing two jackets to work, one for outside and another that looks warm when it might actually not be.

A light sweater could do the trick and if you get hot just tie it around yourself. If you think you might get into an altercation outside a quick tug will rip it off to prevent it from getting in the way of the app. A long sleeve shirt could also work depending on how cold it is outside. If it gets hot just roll the sleeves up and your set.

Also if your store has a decent camera setup you could do some of the shift inside the camera room watching for selections. Once you find someone throw your coat on and head to the floor. As you have seen, the bigger shoplifters go after a wide range of products.

I've been trying to stick around the camera room or hang out in my car outside the store but its not always easy. I've also been wearing two jackets into work and just taking the bigger one off. The stores I work in are not huge and you stick out like a sore thumb if you aren't dressed appropriately for the weather.

I would probably act as an employee most of the day (we all know employees can't do anything right) and catch them by surprise. I wear a shirt and tie to my job now and catch numerous people simply because they think I'm a disinterested employee. I saw you posed the question on LinkedIn as well and hope you get answers. Your locations have full camera systems?

Do a search on floor walking on this forum you will find a lot of tips.

Yea, that's always another good idea. Someone that's shoplifting is bound to walk into a bunch of store employees and they don't drop what they have when they just pass them. Just make sure you stay hidden well enough so that you don't attract much of their attention.
