Default Undercover manager catches employee pocketing money

I came across this news post and thought it was interesting.

    A few highlights:

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a loss prevention officer, who stated that the store’s regional manager came into the store in “regular” clothes in attempt to catch an employee pocketing money, the report stated.

The report says the manager left the store with the wrench shortly after, and the sales associate pocketed the money without recording the transaction.
I hear about this stuff happening ALL the time. Guess that's why paying with credit cards are a good way to go!

Especially at bars or tourist spots. High volume, cash heavy businesses are gold mines for cash theft. While cash theft is a huge profit drain, simple procedures can be put in place to stop it.

Default every bar/restaurant owner I've talked to says.....

1/2 of "the job" is the operation of the biz, getting customers in the door, keeping them happy, etc in the face of tough competition.

The other 1/2 is keeping your employees from robbing you blind, while at the same time keeping them smiling and not setting up a "jailer VS prisoners" dynamic.

Seems to be the big prob for any small operation vs big corp that already have proven EMPLOYEE LP.

Integrity shops are an effictive tool to identify and deal with dishonest employees - if they are correctly done as was the case in the article.
