Anyone have any updated info on the Courthouse Security Officer contracted position through USMS? I know that AKAL was awarded the contract for the most districts within the last year, and have been recruiting as well as building their applicant pool pretty heavy in the area that I live (Southern Ohio). Previously, I know it was basically retired LEO's taking all the positions, as most only offered decent pay with no or extremely limited benefits (thus making it ideal for someone who already had benefits). Not sure if this is still the case (decent pay with no/limited benefits), but during my last few visits to the federal courthouse, I noticed their appeared to be some "younger blood" within the ranks of the CSO's. Was planning on chatting them up next time I'm down there, but wanted to see if anyone here had any inside intel.

United States. Marshals Service Court Security Officer
I am in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area and what you described is how it is here, too. It has been about a year since I was at the the United States Courthouse in Saint Paul, but I doubt that anything has changed here. Here is a link with the respective Court Security Officer collective bargaining agreements.
