Security Management Resources, Inc.® an international executive search firm whose global practice is focused exclusively on professional and executive level corporate security positions, is seeking candidates for the following opportunity.
Responsible for providing support to our client’s retail operations team through quality Asset Protection expertise, program and project management, personnel management, training, assistance, security support services and facilitation of communications and roll-out of Asset Protection initiatives. Please note we estimate this position will require 80% travel and the person will be based in the Northeast or Southeast U.S. The person selected will work remotely and not have an office.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of many operational programs include but not limited to store operational procedures, the use of a POS terminal, the balancing of daily receipts, understanding various exception report platforms, receiving practices, corporate policies, retail staffing models, replenishment systems, merchandise revisions, inventory tracking, etc.
Reports to the Company Global Asset Protection Manager and provides support for the management of all store loss prevention support programs with strong experience managing CCTV/Digital Video systems, internal/external theft investigations, alarms, locks, and other physical security concerns. Closely partner with store/market management to identify and resolve shrinkage and controllable losses, and develop shrink reduction strategies. Responsible for supporting the creation, administration, and execution of corporate training programs and efforts related to shortage control, loss prevention, physical security, safety, audit, and regulatory compliance. Manages and coordinates security officer assignments to provide physical security in the retail environment.
At the direction of the Global Asset Protection Manager, duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Threat Management:
a. Identification, assessment, and mitigation of threats of violence, external and internal, which may compromise the safety of employees, customers and the workplace
b. Coordinate and facilitate investigative response with the Company Investigations team, Retail Human Resources, and Retail Operations
2. Physical Site Security:
a. Facilitate and train store management on site-specific emergency and crisis management and process
b. Ensure surveillance cameras and security hardware are functional and maintained
c. Teach and train on theft deterrent protocol and guidelines.
d. Interface with mall and local authorities
e. Ensure proper security and compliance regarding all Company Assets
f. Establish and audit basic safety guidelines and processes for associates and the store.
g. Oversee theft investigations, and customer and associate accident investigations
h. Serve as the liaison between global security and field operations regarding corporate initiatives, threats and corporate goals and agendas.
i. Spend majority of time in the physical stores (80%)
j. Manage all security needs for special events and situations with mall security, private security, and local law enforcement agencies. Manages the security officers assigned to a store and liaison with security branch managers
k. Act as first point of contact when dealing with personal safety issues (i.e. stalking, terrorist threats, natural disasters, etc.).
3. Cash Management
a. Coordinate with investigations unit, cash shortages through video review and analysis
b. Ensure proper cash control/deposit procedures are in place and are followed
c. Provide direction in the identification and escalation of all fraudulent customer transactions (i.e. credit and gift card fraud, check scams, etc.)
4. Inventory Management
a. Ensuring proper inventory management guidelines and basic freight handling processes are established and followed
b. Coordinate the investigation of shrink creation throughout the logistics channel, including vendors and carriers
c. Assist in the facilitation and audit of all local government and regulatory agency requirements
d. Coordinate the facilitation of the physical inventory process and reconciliation
e. Provide guidance and support in high theft (shop lifting) situations
f. Identify inventory-shrink issues and work proactively through training and influencing retail store management and store inventory operations teams
g. Create solutions to inventory management & controls through partnerships with retail operations leadership and the development of appropriate policies.
5. Intellectual Property / Personal Information
a. Handle cases involving Company IP and/or Customer and Employee PII
b. Manage cases involving questionable/harmful content on customer machines in for service, as well as any physically harmful content on customer machines (i.e. chemical or infestation).
BA or BS, however a combination of college, specialized training and investigative/loss prevention/corporate security operations/Military/Retail leadership/Law enforcement experience may be accepted; a minimum of three (3) years retail loss prevention, investigations and/or security operations experience.
