    Default Long weekend?

So here it is Victoria Day in the rest of Canada & also a holiday in Quebec. (I lost track what it's called, they keep changing the name). I was supposed to have a 3 day weekend. At 21h10 last night one of my guys, scheduled to work 23h to 07h calls in "sick". Guess who has to go in to work with no sleep, then spend the 2nd day of the weekend sleeping to recover? It sucks being in charge sometimes.
I enforce rules and regulations, not laws.

HS: I never thought I'd be counting the time till I retire. But it's Chicken S*it that wears one down
Yeah I' ve gotten those phone calls at 0200 hours. Funny thing the ringing of the phone wakes my bride
    She hands me the phone
" John Smith calling, I have the flu, and won't be in at 0600" You guess who comes in on a Sunday morning

In instances like that I call ST and he offers to drive by his home and see if he's really sick"

HS, all kidding my side I am lucky I have a good crew. The folks over at the branch office are okay
But I have been working for 45 years. 2 more years and I may say goodbye, and semi retire
Lots of car dealerships at our branch office I can work overnights.

Most of my overtime hours and "extra work" come from situations like these.

When you've done a fair share of different sites and the management knows this, they have a tendency to call you at weird hours of the day to get you to do unscheduled shifts in case one of the regulars from that site call in sick.

This happens very often in our company, since according to the law one cannot receive pay from your first day of sick leave if you've been working in the company for less than two years, but as soon as you hit that two year line, many folks just seem to start getting more monday morning sicknesses

It isn't out of the ordinary for me to do ten day work loads, but naturally it really stresses your relationships and gives you very little time to recover.
