General Instructor Development Course

(This course meets the requirements for Virginia DCJS Private Security Training)

(5 Days)

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years of age and a United States citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Recommended Prerequisite: None

Course Length: Each of our Instructor Development courses consists of a minimum of forty (40) hours during a five (5) day class, with approximately twenty (20) hours of additional after hours work.

Class Size: 10-15

Cost: $450.00

Date: January 18-22, 2010 starting @ 9am.

Objective: The instructor development course develops and enhances the instructor skills of all students so they can effectively teach their students. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to develop and conduct effective, reality–based training. Classroom instruction and practical exercises provide a model for students to use in developing their own training programs. In addition this course will enhance the student’s knowledge and skills. All classes are conducted at the instructor level, with students conducting training exercises to gain valuable experience. Students are exposed to a wide variety of teaching techniques, training methods, and philosophies, which allow them to choose what best serves their students.

Course Overview: CCJA delivers state of the art training with completely re-written and updated student manuals covering the course of instruction in an indexed, comprehensive, guide format. We provide each student with an extensive student manual. Our course is a week long program designed to stand alone, and may be presented separately or combined to meet regional or state mandates.


This (40) forty hour intensive instructor development course is broken down into the following areas the content includes but is not limited to:

• State Law, Regulations, rules of instruction for individual states.

• Instructional Outline and Lesson Plan content design and development

• Instructional presentation / public speaking skills

• Understanding and teaching the Adult learner

• Developing teaching aids / Handouts, Visual media,

• Exam question development

• Ethics and Civil Liability for training

• Methods of instruction and presentation techniques



This course may be taken at CCJA or be taught as a mobile training course. This course meets the requirements for many states please contact us for specific information.
