How come guy aren't posting known openings with their companies or in their areas that they know of? Geeesh, this section is almost DEAD, and that's sad! :(

I know by me, there are very few classified ads for security work. Just one or two companies looking. Local companies are down sizing their security staff/coverage which leaves the security contractors with extra personnel. Full timers are now PT and looking for extra hours etc.

I know corporate security jobs are hard to find displayed online.

I will find recruitment ads for CSO positions but I'm not quite at the level - yet. :)

Unfortunately, I don't see much hiring for mid-level positions in corporate security departments. I look on ASIS, but I'm not real overwhelmed with the available positions.

With the downturn in the economy the companies that are hiring are just out there looking for cheaper replacements to their current staff . There is no new hiring just cutting cost as people are willing to work for less cause they are desperate right now . This creates fighting for hours and makes the employee more likely to be abused for fear of being reduced in hours or being taken off the schedule all together . I for one would not like to train my cheaper replacement nor would I want to bring in more people to fight over the dwindling hours . Why would I help a company that is looking to exploit there workers . I feel this attitude is why you don't see more job adds here on the forum .

I mostly dont post here cause there's only like, less than 30 active people, who live amongst not only the 50-states, but the world, and probably arent going to leave their current situation to move to my area to be a casino surveillance officer for $9.50/hr

Any job dealing with the public in my area requires speaking French. I doubt there are more than a handfull of people that read these posts that can speak French.

Lawson, there are a ton of people who are registered or unregistered and "lurk", meaning they don't have post counts like some of us. But they're looking. So I say post those jobs up! You'd be surprised at the number of people that watch this site. They may just takethe information and contact the potential employer directly, or it might inspire them to become a forums member if they see a good job listing. I can't tell you how many people register because they are looking for that entry level security position to start their career. They often don't have the experience and confidence to jump right into all discussions, but they are here and they are ready to jump into the profession.

About 30,000-35,000 unique people read through these forums each month. It varies month to month -- sometimes as low 25,000, sometimes gets as high as 50,000. That speaks really well of what is going on in here and the quality of discussions that are happening here, but most forums are like that: 99% read, 1% post. It gets better the more voice we have, of course!

100% agreed. I found this forum doing a google search for job possibilities. As far as jobs listed on these forums it was quite a bummer that this section is a wasteland, but it got me reading many of the threads and I was a lurker for a good two weeks before I ever registered. I myself do have a security and corrections background, but the fact is with the economy the way it is, folks are digging around for jobs using any and every resource they can.

Consider this - the vast majority of people registered are not authorized to post jobs on the site.
