So, I post this thinking that i97 might be able to help me out. :)

Is there a decent perimeter monitoring system on the market that can be easily integrated with SIMS II (don't laugh)? The system would be using Bosch Conettix D6100i Communications Receiver/Gateway. The perimeter to be alarmed is large, but will be shrinking soon and I'm looking for a cost-effective solution to present to my client. Ultimately, I would like to see the entire perimeter being either alarmed or watched, though video is too prohibitive for the budget. With this in mind, we would still conduct periodic patrols of our perimeter, but not as often as I'd like.

Any suggestions?

Are we talking a controlled fenced in area? Type of fence? What type of animals might be inside the fence? What's your distances along straight runs, roughly? Total area and number of buildings within? Is it a "campus" with multiple buildings, or just 1 or 2 bldgs?

Not laughing :) SIMS is rock solid - especially running on MSDOS. Of all types of software that were "upgraded" to Windows, I think that alarm automation software was one type that perhaps should have stayed there.

There I go showing my age again :o

Can't get into too many specifics, but there are multiple buildings, there will be miles of straight runs (under 10 each side), chain link fence (standard), and here's the best part -- deer, bobcat, cougar, birds are all visitors. I wish there were such a thing as affordable IR that can be calibrated to human ranges :D.
