Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Eyesite Surveillance used Videofied to get over 40 arrests on a single site.

Here is a link to the article.

 Why do most of the Videofied actors, I mean burglars, carry backpacks ?

Many in the security industry believe we are about to benefit from a huge demand for video, which is great. The downside is, the marketing hype has already started and Videofied are dishing out their fair share of _x&%

Why don't you contact Eyesite Surveillance and see what they have to say for themselves? Based upon their website, http://www.eyesitesurveillance.com they understand video surveillance and actually manufacture their own solar powered Mobile Surveillance Units.

Couple interesting things:
$40,000 - amount of damage previous to Eyesite installation
40 - Number of apprehensions since Eyesite installation
4 - number of months since Eyesite installation.

For anybody interested in viewing the actual videos, here is a link to some of the videos of the 40 apprehensions.

As VP of a company that manufactures portable systems (Had to state that). I have personally seen many different things that my clients have recorded (some x-rated some thefts and vandalism). They do work for thier purpose.

With the current economy there has been a rise of thefts at not only construction sites for the copper and appliances, but also at empty forclosed homes. Most of these crimes are committed by people that "see the chance" and take it. When you have a deterent such as video surveillance of the area, theft and vandalism do decrease but do not completely go away.

Now, as for that system. I just have a couple of observations. As stated I am an owner of a company that makes similar systems. I am not trying to downplay that system. These are just observations from what I have seen. It is probably a good system.

1. The size of the solar panel seems small to provide enough power for the system to be a true "off-grid" system without ever needing recharging.
2. The system size seems vunerable to being "taken away" or overturned and vandalised.
3. The mast seems undersized for getting good video in any sort of breeze.
4. Considering the mast size, the cameras must be for more of a "close-in" observation and not for anything more than a couple hundred feet.

I will work on getting permission from a couple of my clients to post some of the video they have captured. It is amazing what people do.

1. This is not a solar powered system but runs on std lithium ion batteries for 4 years in a normal duty cycle. It only delivers 10 second clips of the intrusions and is for verification, not surveillance. In a high-use environment the system can deliver 3,000 events over cell on one set of batteries.

2. The system is designed to be portable and easy to relocate or redeploy as needed.

3. There is no mast. The wireless PIR/Camera/illuminators are about the size of an avocado.

4. Sensor/Cameras are designed for 40 foot detection, illumination and video. The cordless panel can support up to 24 Sensor/Cameras. The concept is distributed detection/notification instead of large areas. For large areas traditional surveillance and analytics are a great option.

This system does very well when combined with a mega-pixel PTZ in a blended system. The wireless sensor/cameras act as "remote sentries" to detect intrusions. Once notified of a real instrusion, the person responsible for the PTZ can log-in and coordinate response with high quality video.
