Outside of the Close Protection details run by Xe (Blackwater), Triple Canopy and the like, what is the chances of anyone entering EP these days?
I ask, because many of the PSD jobs in places like Iraq and Afghanistan are drying up and a lot very experienced pros are back home, and are looking for decent paying work.
I have also noticed that most higher end security firms will only hire prior military/ law enforcement for many domestic jobs, even those outside of executive protection. What can someone do to get into executive protection without this type of experience?

For what it's worth, Estate Security, for ultra high net worth clients is a back door into EP. Generally armed, plain clothes work, it is more residential than corporate. You may never see an office building or a business conference. You will see really high end charity and civic functions and cross paths with a lot of other EP types. You will also spend a lot of time walking around outside the house, by the pool, at the club, in the mall and at restaurants.
The clients may have corporate money, but for one reason or another, they don't want corporate type security. Maybe the woman of the house makes the rules. Maybe the kids don't like Dad's "Men in Black". There can be any number of reasons.
I know of a couple of details in Palm Beach that follow this pattern. Some of these clients just aren't corporate types, despite their wealth. Some of these clients don't hire like corporate details. Some of them are "low rent", despite their wealth. Some of them hire in the local classifieds, under "Security". Read the local ads. Look between the lines. Local, entry level jobs aren't going to attract experienced, out of town help. It's how I got started.
Google Fortune 400. See who lives near you. Cross check those names against boards of directors of local museums and charities. Run a check agianst Art News and their list of top 100 art collectors. Who has a hospital wing named after them? A college building? Who owns the planes, yachts and horses in your locale? Good Luck!

I'm a bit confused by your post, but if I read correctly, you don't have previous LE or military experience? If no, go join the military. Problem solved!
Do a 4 year contract and then take a stab at EP.

Before the does any of that, he should gain experience and training.

Most estate jobs in palm beach are listed as regular security or perdiem security. If it's a job on the island take it. They may start out as step and fetch but they get your foot in the door.

My experience exactly. Other areas may vary. EH126 is in Ann Arbor. I don't know where the money is there, but I wouldn't be surprised if the entry level security details advertise in the classifieds, under security, maybe even seasonally.

EP is a broad term and sometimes it gets grouped in with areas that I don't really consider to be executive protection.
The needed prerequisites would be different for depending on the avenue of protection your pursuing.
