Greetings to all. I have been in this field for 16 years now and can't see myself doing anything else. 6 years as an MP in the Army, 6 1/2 years overseas on Johnston Island (govt contract) 2 years armed security Homelnad Security and 2 years contract security for the National Guard. I'm actually looking to go back overseas somewhere soon. Hostile zone or not, it doesn't matter. If anybody can give me some leads as to who has what contract and where, I would be appreciated. If I can help you with anything, please let me know.

With a military background, why don't you give G4S or whatever BlackWater calls themselves now a shot?

Unless you have WPPS, you are looking at static posts. There is a glut of guys out there with higher skills and they are scrambling for jobs.

Simply having a military background doesn't qualify you for Blackwater, Triple Canopy, Dnyacorp or some of the other big names. I keep hearing people on this board say that and it drive me nuts.
Those companies are looking for specialized skill sets, mainly Special Forces, medics(primarily SF medics), helo pilots, sniper/defensive marksman, intelligence.
I don't know much about G4S but they might be more compatible, I think they have more of a traditional security role.

That's how it used to be, but from what I've been seeing/hearing, a lot of the oversea contractors actually have gone to people w/ military experience w/o special forces experience.

I included several qualifying MOS's in my post, not just SF.
Some contractors might be hiring MP's (CSA Kuwait), but Triple Canopy/Blackwater/Dyncorp is still looking for more specialized training. Don't get me wrong, a MP could certainly qualify, but he would need much more training than what is typically given to MP's and will need to have combat experience.
The poster seems to have been out of the military for a considerable amount of time and it's unknown if he has combat experience, but I'd wager an MP that has not been in the military for nearly 10 years would not qualify.
Take a look at the recruiting sections of these companies and you will get a better idea who they are hiring.
