Craig333......either one would be helpful as the smaller ones can provide "foot in the door" experience.

Mad Malk.....to my understanding, all of those areas are handled under the two divisions of Floor Security and Surveillance. Any info on all/both would be appreciated.

All of those areas encompass the entirety of casino security. And it's a lot of information. There is no simple answer about it i know a lot about it till you hit a counting room. Properly securing a counting room of the magnitude of a larger casino is a high end specialty either learned working for the Treasury department or threw experience. There are probably as many ways to steal form a counting room as there is to cheat and steal on the casino floor. Though i haven't actually worked in a casino being a player myself and being in the business i am have learned a few dozen ways to steal chips or spot collusion at a table. Are u looking to bring some one in which is what i got from your OP, or are you looking to learn more about casino security.

There are frequently ads on Monster.com relating to this BUT I have no idea if they will consider no experience or not.

If you're really serious in making a commitment toward casino security and getting nowhere with the "other" NV (Vegas/Reno), you also might consider checking into a move to the "real" NV (mid-size towns: Fallon, Fernley, Winnemucca, Elko, Ely, etc).

There are quite a few mid-size casinos in these areas, which I know for a fact will hire the right candidate, regardless of prior casino experience. Some of these are smaller satellites of larger chains (Ascuaga's "Nugget" chain, "Winner's" chain, "Red Lion" chain, etc). And the potential hiring pool in these towns is limited, with competition from mining, transportation, etc. (Most young guys comparing a potential mining job with security, will go for the starting wage/benefit/bonus package in mining, and gamble potential for injury against longevity.).

A quick "Google" of the towns will give you the casinos, and lots of info on the towns and local economy of each.

If you choose to research this, feel free to PM me if you'd like; I don't have contacts in the casinos, but can tell you a lot about the local weather, schools, housing, distance to airports, etc...

This is along the lines of what I am looking for......just a basic exploration into the field......just like I am looking for with LP....I have been in basic contract security for ten years and am looking to specialize with an open mind to many fields (LP, AP, Hotel, Oil/Energy/Utility). I have also almost completed my state certs for Bail Fugitive Recovery (Bounty Hunting).

I will be inquiring, generally and specifically, about many facets of security.

Have you looked at any of the Indian casinos around So Cal? I know most of them are not doing well with the economy, but it's still worth a shot.

Back in 02-03 one of my co-workers retired from the Navy and was looking for pretty much anything and the last I heard from him he sent me an email saying he was "running security at a casino". The funny thing is, last month I started to look him up to get back in touch. Wasn't hard to find him, just haven't contacted him yet, I'd like to get back in touch.

I actually have not. There is a small casino literally down the street from me (Hawaiian Gardens for any of the locals) but they arte not hiring for security at the moment.
