This first edition is squarely aimed at corporate security leadership. The most interesting article to me was the one featuring Doctor Park Dietz, MD, PhD discussing "Workplace Violence is Your Problem," written by Marleah Blades who not only is an excellent writer but not bad on the eyes either.
Dr. Dietz is one of my favorites as he has written on human behavior especially when describing someone who has mental problems (nuts) and how to identify them.
In this instant article he describes a cat fight between HR and security. HR in many instances rules the roost until things go south, then the call goes out to security, "Help save me or us."
Features include Access Control, IP Technology, Network Security, Security Innovation Award Silver Medals (Steve, you done good) and Market Focus: Parking Security all of which are directed at security leadership.
Distressing was "Metrics for Success: Warning Signs of Security's Decreasing Influence," discussed by George Campbell highlighting the five warning signs. This section was sponsored by the Security Executive Council.
Good going Steve Lasky. You bring pride to us who once wore Air Force Blue.
There is guidance for those of us in the consuting business in that we must ensure a well balanced approach to the mission of the organization and cognizant of attempts to marginalize security. That is why I insist every branch, section or whatever be present at both in briefing and out briefing and full cooperation be guaranteed; otherwise, no survey.
Enjoy the day,
Bill
