This feature was a "make sure" recommendation on picking out surveillance
cameras.

Why is right, to me it is not a good reason to choose a camera, you get a blur of motion at night due to the shutter being open to capture enough light for a picture, A true Day/ night camera is a better solution.:)

I agree with RickA. DSS is not only inferior, but is often a nuisance. If you need a low lux, get a camera with a mechanical cutoff filter removal system.

Also most digital day night cameras won't see the inexpensive IR emitters at 850 nanometers. So if you go to add them later, your screwed. You either have to upgrade your cameras, or invest in the high dollar emitters you may not need.
