As a guard in Maryland I have found that most of the training available is geared for going armed . As I wonder about why my first real bit of training is for my weapon of last resort is beyond me ? I know that a handgun is not the one size fits all in my daily interactions . I was wondering what training is available in the Frederick Maryland area. I am interested in training in OC , baton , use of force continuum , arrest and handcuffing procedures , and anything that will keep me out of jail or the morgue.

The most advertised courses are the ones required by law to do something. If its not required by law, then why would they aggressively advertise it?
You're going to need to call training companies and ask. Its out there.

The reason you see so much firearms training is because that is the area that holds the most serious liability. There are plenty of programs available that may cover the less lethal detain and control tactics that you need. Check with the advertised schools, but also ask law enforcement where they get their training. Many use contracted trainers who are willing to run security and civilian related programs.
