I have been looking, but with no luck and I am wandering what if any, are the laws regarding executive protection/bodyguard in California. Are they the same as a security officer?
Thanks for any help!

It's the same thing in Cali.
In California, to perform work as an Executive Protection professional, you will need to have, at the minimum, a California Guard Card from the BSIS. I say minimum because there are other requirements, dependent on what you are doing.
If you will be contracted as an individual, you will also need to have a Private Patrol Operator's license from BSIS, as you will be considered a business.
If you will be armed, you will need to have a firearms endorsement on your California Guard Card and a permit to carry a concealed firearm (CCW). If you do not all ready have a CCW, be prepared for some heart ache... depending on where you live in California, your chances can go from pretty good to not at all possible.
Hope this helps.
