SAN DIEGO -- A security guard was shot in the neck outside a downtown nightclub early Friday when he tried to break up a fight, police said.

The shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. outside the Static Lounge at 634 Broadway near 6th Avenue.
"There were a lot of people on the street, a number of rounds were fired," said Lt. Ken Hubbs from the San Diego Police Department. "Only one person was wounded."
The guard was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life threatening, police said.
Police took two men into custody for questioning. Police said they were looking for another man involved in the fight.
Officers closed Broadway and 6th, 7th and 8th avenues during the investigation. All streets were reopened by 5 a.m.
