POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Director of Security, Emergency Management & Business Continuity

SUMMARY
The successful candidate will serves as the organization’s senior most executive responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and management of the organization’s security strategies and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In cooperation with the executive committee, directs the development of an effective strategy to assess and mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the organization.
Advise and recommend a wide variety of security strategies in areas involving the uninterrupted flow of commerce as well as representing the organization before elected officials, Federal, State and local agencies on security issues
Directs staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability in all areas of information, financial, physical, personal, and reputation risk.
Researches and deploys state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the organization’s assets, including intellectual property. Establishes appropriate standards and associated risk controls.
Develops relationships and partners with high-level law enforcement, intelligence, and private sector counterparts.
Through subordinate managers, coordinates and implements site security, operations, and activities to ensure protection of executives, managers, employees, customers, stakeholders, visitors, etc., as well as all physical and information assets, while ensuring optimal use of personnel and equipment.
Overseeing homeland grants activities including, seeking grant funds, development of grant proposals, and administration of grant-funded programs.
SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES
Leadership skills to provide direction to the management and professional staff within the organization.
Ability to develop consensus within an organizational climate of diverse operational activities and often-conflicting regulations, imposed by agencies with regulatory jurisdiction.
Ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization (including briefing executive management and governance Board committees) on the status of security issues.
Emotional maturity to understand impact and sensitivity of security issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3-5 years of direct experience in a significant leadership role. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage the functional capital of an executive position and managed an expense budget.
A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized and USDE accredited college or university. An advance business related degree is desirable.
At least 15 years of experience in a senior security management position within a private sector corporate security or related public sector organization. Utility-related experience and a background in law enforcement are highly desirable.
Candidates must have extensive and widely recognized experience and knowledge in the area of security. Demonstrated skills in managing and exercising leadership over security organizations and programs including establishing broad security strategies, policies, guidelines, standards, and protocols; developing and implementing emergency response programs required to ensure business continuity; and overseeing the investigation of alleged criminal activity or misconduct and other security related incidents and issues for a major corporation.
