Can anyone recommend an insurance company that writes general liability policies for security agencies in Florida?
I am a startup company, so a firm that writes for small companies or PI firms would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Brownyard has a policy especially for PI's and security consultants. http://www.brownyard.com/pages/pi.shtml
Not sure if they offer coverage in Florida or not. They won't sell direct; I think that you need to go through a broker licensed in your state.
I found shopping for general and professional liability insurance to be a very frustrating experience. One of the few times I have had to beg someone to take a substantial amount of my money. Finally ended up with Brownyard myself. Slo-ooow to respond to quotes and almost everything else but eventually came through for me

I was going to suggest them. LOTS of Texas companies use them.

Travis, I know that it's been a while since this post but I was curious to know what their rates are for the coverage. I'm just doing this out of curiosity, because from their website they don't provide insurance in my state.

The rates vary depending on how the agent writes it for the underwriting process. There is an agent here in FL and the quotes were much much much higher then when I called the company directly. Once they found out the training we put our guys through and the training we go through, they really took down prices alot.
LIABILITIES are the key with any insurance company. If they see that you are active in reducing the liabilties within your company, they are more apt to give you a lower rate.

Thanks for the information, but can you give a figure on what the percentage or monthly cost is? Thanks again!
