Saw a demo of these cameras (http://www.sanyopanfocus.com/) last week. They seem pretty good. Has anyone used them in the real world?
Also, why aren't all cameras pan-focus? The technology exists (used currently on ENG and DV cameras- news crews and independant filmmakers use them already).

We started using them roughly 6+ months ago and it is a great technology.. for the CCTV industry, Sanyo is first introducing this new technology with "fixed" cameras... The same already exists with PTZ domes from most of the manufacturers, but Sanyo brought this technology first into the market.
The best part about this camera - plug and it is ready to go... All you have to do is to adjust the viewing angle and it is always in focus... The entire idea was to have such cameras installed by non-professional installers... Basically, anyone can install it and the picture quality is excellent and it is always in focus..
Their Day/Night version of the same technology is even better... comes in vandal and weather proof packaging and works like a charm..
