My company is really a network of in house security working for a check cashing company, and my brother is the boss, so I have great flexibility in my choice of uniform. I have chosen to go with a look that is quite similar in appearance to what patrol officers from the local police department wear; navy blue class A shirt (Short sleeve in warm weather and long sleeve in cooler weather), navy blue BDUs, navy blue hat (baseball cap in warm weather and skull cap in cooler weather), and body armor in a black external carrier that has a security patch on the back, a badge patch over the left breast, and my name sewn above the right breast (you wouldn't believe how much I get mistaken for a police officer!). My duty belt is nylon with all nylon accessories, with the exception of my cell phone pouch, which is leather, the rotating baton holder, which is a hard plastic, and the keepers, which are basketweave.

im working for a in-house steel recycling center security right now we got nickel grey shirt and black pant but we will change for TRU black jacket and khaki pant also TRU . We have found that khaki work better in environement with dirt mud and rust , the patch will be with velcro back like on military uniform . I think for a environment like where i work you dont need to have a class A uniform with Tie and thing like that and we work only on night and week end in a rural zone so we dont have public or visitor to scare with too agressif uniform :D

We wear Black Class "A"s and Class "B" uniforms to include BDUs, generally speaking ( SSG). We have some officers assigned to specialty units ( ATO, K9, Dive Team) that differ slightly.

Midnight Navy polyester pants and shirts, leather duty belts with brass hardware, goldtone nametags and badges, and black campaign hats with black/gold hat cords for those who are authorized to wear them.

Geez, after looking at my avatar, I really oughta take an updated pic of our uniforms, seeing as that pic is almost a year old...

When I was running CI on your company, I found it interesting that the basic philosophy of encouraging positive interactions with community residents was coupled with the use of such a paramilitary type of uniform. There just seems to be some disconnect there, IMHO.

Im not so much against the color black, but sorta. In our facility, black is just an overtly threatening color, which I dont like... what cheeses me the most is just the unprofessional look of our uniform. I mean, nothing says security, nothing says nothing. Its just a plain jane black. And then there's no uniformity... I typically wear a pair of professional black cargo pants, a black undershirt and a black polo shirt with a single shirt pocket. There's other guards who wear combos such as black dockers with a black sweater; black denim pants with a black cotton "fruit of the loom" t-shirt; black BDUs with a black short sleeve BDU top; etc.... there is just no uniformity and we look like s***.

Most s/o's in Australia get the k-mart attire - cheap and nasty or just clones of other companies. We are NOT permitted to mimic any police uniform for fear of mistaken identification or impersonation (ie. 2 tone light blue shirt and blue trousers). 1 company I worked for had great looking uniforms - so similar to EMT staff (ink blue trousers and white shirt) that you NEVER got hassled when in uniform and off duty. But the trouble with white shirts and the occassional dirty sites was the black dust on your hands giving you nipple marks on your button pockets on your white shirts.

My own company had black or very dark blue uniforms as they looked good, hid the dirt and any sauce or dinner stains when on duty. I found some dark grey NAVY overalls in a surplus store that were brand new and had them commercially died black for $150.00 US for 20 pairs of overalls to look good and these were used for all senior teams members who may get called to duty at short notice and for our K9 contractors.

Black cargos are like dress casual iron-free chinos or similar?

Who ever is responsible for 'that' uniform policy should be taken out the back and flogged! :p

Navy blue Air force style Jumper with embroidered badges on each shoulder.

Navy blue pilots jacket also with embroidered badges on each shoulder.

Navy blue suit jacket with embroidered badge above the right pocket

White shirt with security officer embroidered above the the left pocket and embroidered badges on each shoulder, and of course navy blue tie.

Navy blue dress pants.

Black shoes, black belt.

I just can't seem to get the Village Peoples "In the navy" outta me head

Well Unit 6 does look a bit like David Hodo who was the construction worker with the Village People .................. LOL. I recall our Sydney Olympic Uniforms (each company had their own) we made in Australia and then made in Fiji to save money and they were that hot to wear it was a mess. I was glad I got mine early (I wore it once) as many people complained of overheating with these cheap and nasty shirts. But the best part were the light spray jackets that turned into bum bags to use around your waist.

We wear dark grey dress slacks, white long sleeve dress shirts with a dark red tie and have a navy blue blazer for a jacket. I can't say I enjoy it all much, don't like wearing the tie as it feels constricting, the white shirts show a lot of dirt by the time I go home and the blazer just ain't as warm as I would like on the cold nights and rain.

But it seems to fit well around here and looks classy in my opinion, compared to others I have seen around here anyhow.

I worked for one company that was white class a shirts, navy class a trousers with 1" stripe and navy round top covers.. Plain leather duty gear.. it was ok and we looked allot like cincinnati police minus the trouser stripe. The white didnt work for us since it always got dirty, but the county gets to choose our colors.. Most recently at a different company we're inhouse, wearing balck class a shirt, grey class a trousers with 1" black stripe, basketweave (supposed to) duty gear and grey campain cover, silver for patrol staff, gold for supers. We also have a bike uniform consisting of a white shirt, black bdu shorts and nylon gear. Its a horrible uniform, sizes run small, and no epulates on sleeves. I tend to just go with black bdu pants, the shirt and the blue and black reflective jacket on my bike days.

Just wanted to add they are Martin's uniforms, I believe there called super flex. I actually find them very comfortable and light to wear. Back in the day (makes me sound older than I am...lol) we had two 1 inch USAF blue stripes on the pants, made the uniform look sharper, imo

Never could understand the idea of bike patrol shorts except perhaps the hottest climates and most casual venues (e.g., beach/boardwalk). We have them in our area. Not only are most of the legs sticking out of these shorts simply too ugly for words (especially when sweaty), but the shorts offer absolutely no protection for the inevitable spills and scrapes of bike patrol, as attested to by the scabs (which make the legs even more repulsive). And, contrary to popular opinion, shorts are not cooler than good, lightweight, perspiration-wicking pants. Last, but not least, it's real hard to take a cop in spandex seriously, IMHO, unless he's inviting me to the town picnic.

Certain topics seem to repeat in the forums. Uniforms is certainly one of those topics.
We have a thread at- http://forums.securityinfowatch.com/showthread.php?t=3057&page=2 with 12 pages of posts including photos of some of our forum posters showing off their uniforms.
Before that we had a thread that made it up to 19 pages, also with lots of photos at- http://forums.securityinfowatch.com/showthread.php?t=416 .

Some of our uni's are more traditional, but I do bike patrol so I get the cool uniforms. BDU's, blue or black, black polo type shirt, nylon duty gear. And black helmet for the bike.

I think its funny that for all of us white shirts, we all get to wear dark colored jackets. Cold as it now, it makes me wonder why I bother with the uniform shirt, no one ever sees it now.

Standard mall security uniform. Long sleeve white shirt, black flat front pants, black tie, Black campaign cover, black boots. Gold badges, name tag, whistle cord, and tie clip. Gold cord on cover, and gold hardware on basketweave duty gear. I would love it if we could just wear BDU pants and polo shirts.

I issue a dark navy polo with the company patches sewn on along with the Dickies brand cargo pants as standard issue since they are more practical than the traditional class "A" uniform. Should the client request the traditional uniform, I supply a French Heather Blue Shirt and dark navy uniform pants with matching FHB striping along the seams of the pants.
I want to give my employees a professional look while staying away from the Police Officer look that many companies here in So. Cal. are going after.

(I was at the uniform store the other day ordering a set of uni's when an officer from a different sec. company came in. We all thought he was LAUSD P.D until we looked at his patches. Even the Deputies that were there thought he was sworn.)

I guess this maybe for a new thread but how do the rest of you feel about companies that dress their officers to the point that they are nearly indistinguishable from LEO's ?

My shoulder patches, at any distance would be indistinguishable from the chp. Same colors. Hasn't been a problem, but I dont' want to be mistaken for a cop.
