Personality or Skills Testing

As a requirement of employment, how many of you have taken a pre-employment personality or skills test? This would include the Weiser test, and other tests that companies have.

If so, what was the test like, and what did you think of the test? Were you shown the results of the test after employment, and if so, did you think the test results were actually useful in the hiring process?

Were any of these tests a measure of physical fitness?

Never took any of these tests. Only time I took a physical was for my fulltime fire department job. more like, you have a pulse, heres' your uniform be on post in an hour.

When I worked at Guardsmark, every new candidate was required to take the Minnesota Personality Test, which consisted of 500 or more questions covering just about every aspect of judgment and viewpoint. Apparently my first test scored "inconclusive," and they required me to retake it. I was never provided with the outcome of the 2nd test except that I passed. (No score, etc.)

I recommend such tests because they can reveal deception or personality disorders. This is especially true when a state prohibits polygraph tests. Despite any test though, some will manage to get in. Better than nothing though. :)

Too bad it often takes a good, expensive psychologist to make sure the test was done right.
