This story just hit our news desk this morning. I'd love to hear some thoughts.

Any gov't/courthouse security staff care to comment on this, perhaps write a column for the site about what we NEED to do assist in securing our courthouses and other public, gov't buildings?

Thanks,
Geoff (editor)

Geoff, I've been shaking my head and whispering quiet prayers. I loathe the inadequate response to threats given by public officials. Taxpayers will not foot the bill for security improvements. In Fulton County, the Sheriff is short by 80+ deputies. Why, money!
After Federal Circuit Court Judge Vance was killed by a pipe bomb and one was delivered to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, I spent a better part of a week in that building and found to my horror many of the mandated procedures were being ignored or pencil whipped. I was asked to visit the Fulton County Courthouse to do a "quickie" security survey. Geoff, this was the old courthouse. I want to say I met with Sheriff Leroy Stynchcomb and members of the court security committee. I also think I met a city judge by the name of Barnes; maybe it was the same Barnes who was murdered, I don
