Hi all,

On a tight budget, and looking into sourcing some SAFE training mats for baton, handcuffing, and defensive tactics courses. What is the minimum thickness necessary and can anyone direct me to an affordable source? Would prefer something that is portable, such as puzzle mats, folding mats, or the like. Thanks in advance...

My organization doesn't use mats anymore, because of the idea that there are no mats in real life. However, when we did, we did 2 different things. You could talk to the folks at a local college or high school and see if you could use their wrestling room, or you could invest in some puzzle mats. They are cheap, convenient and easy to store.

I would stay away from the black rubber mats as you end up cover with black marks all over your hands , clothing and is just an overall mess to deal with.
