Hey there everyone. I am a bit ashamed, but my second post here doesnt actually have anything to do with business. My friend and i have made a bet on whether the device in the picture below is some sort of security implement (camera, motion detector, etc.) Or just a school bell.

Unfortunately i havent been able to find any info from colleagues or from the internet. If you folks could kindly take a look and confirm what it is, then i can gather my ten bucks (hopefully :P)

It isnt a bell, and that isnt metal on the outside, its plastic with a faint silver coating.

This post sounds more like h/w on a possible Target then the question of a security analyst with over a year experience. If you had any reason to know this I.e. its a site you were surveying then you would kbow what that is or isn't.

It's a rate-of-rise heat detector. Unlike other heat detectors which triggers an alarm when a certain temperature is reached. this ones triggers an alarm when the temperature goes up x degrees in y amount of time.

@zm88: It isnt a site i was surveying, and i am certainly not studying a possible target. I currently do that, its my job, though instead of doing anything illegal, i report problems. Its what i do, even if i am fairly green at it (i never said one year of field experience). So, lets not start calling each other potential criminals, were all friends here right? For your information i am currently enrolled in a Outdoor Emergency Care class which takes place at a elementary school. My friend and i attend the same class and had a debate about it.

@HotelSecurity: Thanks for the helpful info, by your description am i correct to say that this device is part of the fire alarm system?
