View Full Version : Review your mail security procedures

By now we've seen the stories about the "fiery" packages being sent to the government. It could be some kind of sick protest, could be someone (or some group) "testing" the Feds' procedures.
At any rate, I always worry in cases like this about copycats getting inspired and trying their own versions with whatever company or local utility / office / etc. they currently are angry with. Good time for all of us to review our mail & package protocols...

A few links that I find helpful, you will note that most of these links will give you the same info but sometimes in a slightly different format;
United States Postal Service - Mail Center Security
Department of Homeland Security
In addition to the links above, if you go to the following sites you can get more information. With that said these sites do require membership and they will screen you before giving you access to their information they are;
NYPD Shield - www.nypdshield.com (A note I live and work in Colorado and find a fair number of the information that this site as useful and relevant, so even if you don't live near NY, take a look anyways)
Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) - www.hsin.gov
Lessons Learned Information Sharing (LLIS) - www.LLIS.gov
FBI's Infraguard Program - www.infraguard.net
